The Golden Palace is famous for their crazy advertising and publicity stunts. I'm guess audacity works in advertising. Overall, The Golden Palace is not just about Poker. It also offers a full range of casino games to play, which makes it unique. It is probably not the best place to just play poker, but if you are looking for other types of games, it is definitely worth a look.

Getting Started - (Go to the Golden Palace Site)
Getting started is as easy as first downloading their software. Go to their site, and you can either download their Poker Software for playing poker, or you can download their Casino Software for accessing their casino games. The initial download is small, a 286KB download which then downloads the rest of their software. The installer for the casino is not a typical windows installer, which I found slightly annoying. Installation took about 3 minutes. The poker installer was pretty standard, and took about 2 minutes to install. After installing the poker program, it immediately said, "An update is available", and asked me to upgrade itself. I clicked yes, and it then took another 3 minutes or so to install the update.

Once downloaded, you can either "play for fun" or "play for real money", and create your account. Account creation was simple, but they then assigned me a username which is 11 random letters, and I couldn't copy and paste it out of the screen because it was graphics rather than letters in their software.

Once you're in, however, you can play any of their games. They offer Card & Table games, Video Slots, Progressive Games, Single-Line Slots, Multi-Line Slots, Keno, and more. They have a great selection.

The casino gameplay is really nice. Sound and graphics are great.

In the poker rooms, the key to great games is lots of players. When I logged in, it said that there were 1427 "players online", but it was still hard to find quite the right table. The gameplay works pretty well. They offer avatars, so you can pick your own icon. The gameroom seems to get a lot more chat between the players than some of the other sites.

Tournaments/Events
They do offer Poker Tournament play.

Rake/Pricing
In the poker games, the rake varies from $0.50 to $4, depending on the size of the pot and number of players.

I believe this site is "fixed" not just because I lost $, but I know alot of people that believe that every hand in cash games has a winning hand and a "suck out" hand. There are "hot" seats, meaning you cards constantly hit. It is rediculas. This is probably that best looking and performing site, you would think it would be honest. However it is the most unrealalistic out there.

Worst hand prior to flop wins 60-70% of the time, it's just not right.

I will say that I also have heard from a very few, that they make money consistantly on this site, but they too agree the site shows favortism to certain seats/hands.

I am writing this review because I won $250 when I first played here! They are really honest, sent me my check very quickly. I was surprised, actually, because I didn't expect it to work so well, but it was great. I don't play very much, probably just $25 a week or so, and Golden Palace is great.
