Remember, the casinos give out comps because they want you to stay in their casino for as long as possible and, more importantly, they want you to come back again and again. If a casino has beautiful fountains out on the street, is themed to look like a Roman palace or Italian city, has a volcano that erupts every half hour, a pirate ship battle that happens several times every night, or is the hottest and newest casino which is where all of the celebrities and movie stars stay, play and get married, then haven't they already managed to get you in the door? And once you fall in love with the glamour and luxury, aren't you likely to return? Of course you are! So why should they give you anything for free? They already hooked you!

But what about the small casino that has nothing more to offer than a 3 foot tall margarita, or the lounge act that nobody has ever heard about, or the foot long hot dog for seventy-five cents? They have to work extra hard to earn your business and to stay open for business. These are the casinos that are the most generous with comps! If you don't care what the building has to offer, don't care about attractions that are outside and can't be seen from the casino floor, and don't need hand blown crystal chandeliers, then find the oldest, most basic property you can and play there. You'll find they are quick to give away freebies like buffets, raffle tickets, match play coupons, tickets to their unknown yet decent floor show, and discounted / free rooms. After all, Blackjack is Blackjack no matter where you play. Why not play somewhere that will give you the thrill of the game and some nice extras too?

Also consider the casino's location. If it is a couple of blocks off of the strip, it's harder to get to. Again, these places know they have to work hard to get you to walk a couple of blocks and tend to reward your efforts for doing so.

What about locals? Surely they're just like anyone else. They too enjoy a night of gambling but they don't want to fight the crowds of tourists, the parking hassles and the glitz of the strip. So instead, they flock to properties known as "local's casinos". Almost every gaming city has them. And if a local's casino doesn't treat their customers well, word will spread fast and they'll be out of business within a few months. So the local's casinos tend to be more generous with their players. They offer more comps, bonus payouts on video poker and slot machines, and extras such as cheap rooms, cheap (and good) food, and generous comps. The local's casinos may be a few miles away from the touristy areas but they're usually worth a ride out in a cab. You may find that their generosity and looser rules improve your odds and reward you with much better comps.
