A Guide to Understanding Casino Comps And How to Improve Your Chances Of Getting Your Fair Share from Cruzino.com
Miscellaneous Tips
As I was writing this eBook, I realized that there was more information I wanted to share but I wasn't sure where it should go. So I've decided to include it here because I felt it was either interesting or useful.
1.You now understand why you should get a tracking card. But did you know that many casinos will take 10% off of your restaurant and gift shop purchases just for showing the card? Be sure to find out if your favorite casino does this.
2.When you call hotel reservations, they may ask for your player's card number. For some casinos, just having a card automatically gets you a reduced rate. So if there is a casino you want to stay at next time, be sure to get a card before you leave. Even if you don't play a single dime there, you may save money when you call them to book a room.
3.The people who come up with slot club promotions are human and sometimes make mistakes that give the player more benefits than the casino had intended. But often these mistakes are not caught for a day or two until someone reviews the nightly reports. Although I've never experienced it, I've read plenty of stories where a miscalculation on a promotion meant that a player who played perfect strategy on a video poker machine could have a true advantage over the house because of the generosity of the bonus payouts the casino was offering.
4.Did you know that if you sit down at a casino bar, and put money into a video poker machine, you are a "player" and therefore your drinks are free? I've sat with friends, put $10 into a machine and slowly played my hands while we talked or listened to the live music. My goal wasn't to play video poker. It was instead to enjoy the bar, and the company of the people I was with while being served free drinks. Of course you should always tip your bartender or table waitress. But a tip alone is a better deal than buying the drink and paying the tip!
5.Another way to make friends is to be generous with your tips. If most people tip a waitress one dollar, give her two or three and a kind word. You'll find that she frequently will remember what you're drinking, make sure you're being poured a good drink and will come by your table more often than the others. And if the pit boss sees you being kind to the waitress, and he sees you tipping the dealer, it'll usually make a positive impression which will be remembered when you're asking for a comp.
6.Don't assume that the room rates offered by a casino either through their 800 number or website are the best rates available. Check out other reputable travel websites as many of them buy rooms in bulk and can therefore offer better rates than others. One site that I frequently book through is www.Cruzino.com. Their rates are usually quite good and they offer extensive casino reviews and gaming information.
7.Be sure to sign up for a player's card at as many casinos as you can. This will get you plenty of special offers in the mail. If you sign up for enough of them, you'll have a few to choose from the next time you are planning a getaway.
8.Pro sports players are constantly practicing their games. You should too! In between your visits to a casino, be sure to practice. Maybe try your luck at an on-line poker website (my personal favorite is www.ParadisePoker.com) or practice playing Blackjack by dealing the cards to yourself. If you don't practice, you may find that you don't remember what the correct play is when you're sitting at a table and playing for real. Most on-line sites have a play for free option so if on-line gaming is illegal where you are or you don't want to practice for real money, you can sharpen your skills at no cost.
9.Memorize the definitions listed at the beginning of this eBook. The more you sound like a pro, the more likely you are to earn comps. If you are uneducated about casino gaming and terms, you are going to appear to the hosts and pit bosses like 80% of the other players they encounter every day.
10. Have fun and act like you're having fun! It's much easier to bend the rules with someone who is enjoyable than it is with someone who you feel is only trying to take advantage of you!
