Boomtown is located just east of the California / Nevada border and is about a ten minute drive from Reno. They offer a full casino with multiple machine and table games to choose from as well as a few dining choices. They also offer a shuttle service to and from the Reno casinos. This is a popular "last stop" for gamblers who are returning to California and want to try their luck one more time.

I just today found out that Boomtown closed last December. I have e-mailed them to find out if a re-opening is planned. I'll try to keep you posted.

  Great Last-Chance Stop
Whenever I drive home to California from Reno, I always have enjoyed stopping at Boomtown on my way out. It's a simple, decent sized casino that is fun and easy going and gives me a chance to try to win back some of my losses from the previous couple of days in Reno. Food prices are great too so it makes for a good stop for dinner before driving home.
