CALLED TROP FOR RESERVATIONS, NEEDED TWO ADJOINING ROOMS.

I WAS IN THE HOSPITAL 2 MONTHS AND WIFE LEG OPERATION.

WE WANTED OUR DAUGHTER CLOSE BY TO CUT DOWN ON WALKING.

NO DICE THEY SAID AFTER WE WERE TO DRIVE 7 HOURS TO GET THERE.

WE WANTED TO GO SEPT. 17. WE DON'T THINK THEY WERE SO BUSY THEY COULD NOT BLOCK OFF TWO ROOMS.

WE DECIDED NOT TO GO TO AC. TABLE GAMES ARE COMING TO WEST VIRGINIA AFTER FIRST OF THE YEAR.

Filthy and Low-Class, and then there's the rooms...
Under whelmed is the 1st word that comes to mind as you walk through the hotel and casino areas. After the zombie at the desk checked me in my wife and I began the long journey with our bags to the North Tower which meant taking an escalator and a long walk through an area of the casino filled with heavy traffic. We had to carry our bags and laptop computer despite me being handicapped with braces on both of my legs and my walking with a cane because no one was available to help us. The long trek through the crowd introduced us to the class of people that are patrons of this dirty, smoky hotel and casino. The smell of booze on all the drunks was surprisingly strong considering the thick smoke that fills the air of all parts of this hotel and casino, even in the so-called non-smoking sections. (My arm was burnt by a woman walking past me in a non-smoking section of the casino). After fighting our way through the mass of people we stood for 20 minutes in a crowd of people waiting for an elevator. The rudeness of people amazes me when a middle-aged couple struggling with their luggage (that they shouldn’t have to be carrying) and a cane are pushed, shoved and boxed-out of getting on the infrequently available elevators. When we finally arrived at our non-smoking room and walked in the first thing that hit me was the strong smell of smoke. I sat on the side of the bed and called the front desk and was told by someone very annoyed with my call that it is definitely a non-smoking room. I told him that there are two cigarette burns on the table the phone is on and I was told this could not be so and that I was mistaken. The digital photo I took shows them to be without a doubt cigarette burns, the first of a series of photos I will be presenting to Frank Buro, the President of Tropicana. I have photos of how filthy the room was, from you guess it a cigarette burn on the carpet, dirt and sand and dust on all the furniture, rust in the bathroom, rust around the windows, windows so dirty you could not see clearly through them, peeling wallpaper, the coffee table was made of some cheap metal and besides the dust, dirt and sand it also had many rust spots all over it. This place is like a cheap motel in a bad part of town. Not convinced yet? How about semen stains and pubic hair on top of the comforter covering the bed! The couple in the room before us obviously couldn’t wait to get under the covers so they left their hair fluids on the comforter and so did the maids! This is getting to be a long story so I will skip most of the remaining details. The hotel staff’s response was annoyance and ours was disgust. I became such and unpleasant situation we checked out but not before I made sure I got the President of Tropicana’s name and address and phone number. He will hear the long version of my experience and view my photos. The Tropicana should be sold to someone who will remodel it and maintain it as a classy place it now only pretends to be.

Unlike Caesar's that smells like a nursing home and Bally's that looks like a 'walker/wheelchair' convention, I like the Trop. Will return.

  worst place ever
I took a bunch of residents from my assisted living facility here for the day. The people were so rude to them, they made us drop them off in a garage, drop the bus off 10 min away, pay $35 to park it, and get a cab to come back for it. The people in bus relations were so nasty and rude, Jasmine, Drew and the manager with the terrible toupee to be exact. They harrassed me and the residents telling us we didn't stay long enough, we got there at 10 and left at 4 pm. They told us not to come back because we were not staying 5 hours which we did after they gave them $5 to play with. They wanted us to pay the $5 each back, and tried to keep us from going. They tried to block us in there and even told an officer outside near the garage, who by the way told them they were acting ridiculous. Won't suggest this place to anyone, not to mention it's not very handicapped accessible.

Can't believe all negative comments. Have had nothing but great experiences at the Trop for over a year and a half now, down 2/3 times a month. Staff is friendly and helpful, my health problem always taken into consideration. Rooms are always neat and clean.

  Dear Ms. Popielarski,
I have been a patron of the Tropicana for over twenty-three years. My husband and I always enjoyed our stay, had access to Diamond Jim's and were treated with friendly and courteous service. We made many good friends over the years.Twenty-0ne months ago, I lost my husband. We always drove to The Trop, but now I take the bus.I usually go from Sunday thru Thursday twice a month. Our old friends always make me feel at home and I couldn't be treated nicer.

I have been introduced to 3 Card Poker, which I enjoy immensely. There are 2 dealers who are especially dear to me.One is Lester Schiller who taught me how to play and the other is Scott Baird, they go out of there way to make me feel at ease and make the game so much more enjoyable. I must say that there are others who are just as nice. But everyone has favorites. They should be commended.

I enjoy the tournaments and shows as well. I just wanted to voice my opinion and let you know I will always be a loyal patron.I also enjoy the Quarter and the singer who sounds like Frank Sinatra.

Sincerely,
Mrs.Rosemary Grieco

I have stayed at the Tropicana everytime I am in Atlantic City I think it is a great stay. The rooms are always clean, staff is always helpful and the casino is great. If I can't stay at the Trop then I don't go. For those with the complaints maybe you went on a bad day everything can't be perfect remember we are talking about a hotel not a palace. Go Tropicana!!!!!

I live in New Jersey and I go to Atlantic City any chance I can get. I have been to many other casinos. Tropicana had to been the worst for Parking. I normally go to the Casinos for the day My husband and I spend the night about once every 2 months. On Saturday July 30 th, 2005 . It was like a normal trip in. We found a parking spot on the 7th level (which is not a big deal). Myself and the other couples we were with had been there all day. (won nothing, but what do you expect) We had about a 2 hours drive home so we decided to leave at 10:45pm. We were in the parking garage for 2 hours waiting to get out!!!! Never in my life or at any other casino have I had this problem. I couldnt believe it! There was no city wide traffic jam like the customer service rep on the info line said. IT WAS A MESS !!! We finally got home at 3 am . never again will I visit that casino. I have never had a problem like this at any other casino .We always have fun there , but this trip was HORRIBLE!!

Can't understand the complaints. I was prepared for worst after I read these, but too late as I already had reservations. Boy, was I surprised. EVERYONE, from check-in to check-out and everyone in between was absolutely lovely, cheerful, polite and helpful. I don't have one complaint. These complainers must be staying at a different hotel! Can't wait to go again!

Just a warning if you are planning on visiting The Quarter at the Tropicana after 11:00pm on weekends or on a holiday then make sure you are properly dress because they have instituted a strict dress code which states you can not wear "Baggy jeans, work-style boots or shoes; tee shirts; inappropriate athletic gear and other clothing deemed inappropriate by Tropicana Management in and around The Quarter complex". A recent article in the Press of Atlantic City quoted Bob Kephart owner of the Comedy Stop Cabaret & Cafe as saying "They're having trouble with kids and people that live in the neighborhood who are trying to make it a hangout." so if you don't want to get your ass thrown out of The Quarter make sure that if you are visiting there on a weekend or holiday be properly dressed.

I don't understand why all these people are posting comments that are nothing more then bitching and moaning about how bad the Tropicana is? Well let me enlighten you about the real Tropicana! The wife and I were in New Jersey for a wedding and we decided to spend a few days in Atlantic City and when we got down there were nothing but friendly and helpful employees and no there were not any homeless people hanging around the entrance of the casino as one person commented in his review on this website. Further we stayed in a room in the new Havana Tower and I have to tell you it was beautiful and worth every dime and I have to say that I find almost all of the bad reviews here hard to believe. The Trop is the diamond of the boardwalk.
