Stratosphere Hotel and Casino: The connecting door weirdness freaked us out. (3 stars)

Check in - very long lines. But the people were very pleasant.

We saw the kind of room (broom closet) that came with our package, so we paid for an upgrade. It was a clean nice sized suite with a jetted tub, 2 tvs and 2 sinks in the bathroom. We were pleased.

We went to Lucky's Cafe for breakfast. The food sucked and the buffet is not worth it. However, the server was extrememly pleasant. We also went to the Italian place for dinner - very good food and I think fairly priced and just as good any of the fancier ones on the strip.

The view was nice from the top, but we really missed being in the heart of everything. It really lowers the amount of choices for everything you do, unless you want to trek - which we did.

BUT, the reason why we will never go back is because of the connecting door weirdness. The first night we were in town, we had noticed that there was a connecting door to the next room. We made sure it was locked. However, the next worning as we were about to leave the apartment, we noticed that the door was not only UNLOCKED, but CRACKED OPEN! There are no door handles on the other side of this door, so we had no idea how this could have happened. We did not notice anything missing, so we ENSURED that it was locked again and went to have fun in Vegas. Throughout our stay, we would make a point to visibly notice of the door was closed. Our last full day there, we decided not to the have the room cleaned, so we put up the Do Not Dusturb sign on the door. No one as far as we knew enetered the room while we were out, BUT the next morning, the connecting door was UNLOCKED and CRACKED OPEN AGAIN! It gives the appearance once again that someone came into our room while we were sleeping.

We just hope there is some logical explanation for this - because I would take theft over the power a stranger has during our sleep. I did file an incident report with the management and security. I could go on, but I will stick with the facts and not the horrorible thoughts that reel in our head now.

I have to say that the place other than location, and this weird thing that happened was an ok and affordable place to stay. All personnel were extrememtly pleasant. But we will not be staying there, obviously. I would steer clear fo the rooms with connecting doors.

Hotel Review for New Frontier Hotel and Gambling Hall: Had a lot of fun there (4 stars)

Nobody mentioned the 10x odds on craps at the old new Frontier. Rooms are old but reasonably priced and serviceable. How much time do you plan to spend in your room in Vegas? Maybe you shouldn't be staying in Vegas! Gilleys was a new wrinkle for me -- and not a good experience. The waitress spent half an hour running around because somebody ran out on the previous bill, and then the service was terrible. Maybe they ran out because they felt ignored. I try to spend huge amounts of time at the crap tables -- not a high roller but won a couple of grand last trip!

Review for PokerStars: Poker Stars is a joke

Poker Stars is a joke and every player who has witnessed the non stop odds shattering flops and bad beats on the river knows it. Prepare to lose big particulaily if you play a tight style as the deal is anything but random. Tournament play is even worse and regardless of what positive propaganda you may read odds are odds and the impossible always happens at Poker Stars.

Review for PokerStars: They call it Riverstars for a reason!

As others have already mentioned, Bad Beat Central. Also known as River Stars and Broker Stars. The way the cards fall are incredible.

In the flopped variations of poker, most flops (75%)are flush draws. Any made hand on a flop is often blown by the turn or river. For example a straight flops (but with two flush cards) the turn will either bring a flush or a full house. Or variations of the theme, paired board with two flush cards and a flush appears on turn etc. Also flushes are made at least 75% of the time instead of what should be 20%.

In Stud, I was in a hand with KAA and raise and am surprised that the 5, 4 and 3 (Bring In) all call my raise. 4th street I catch a K and fire away and they all call - I can't figure out what is going on - they all have the st8 cards that the others need. By 5th street, two of the callers have paired their 4th street card and all of a sudden all hell breaks loose....the reason - all three callers started tripped up and two of them were full on 5th. Now folks what are the odds of that?!

I have an even better one that someone told me about regarding Stud H/L. There is a lot of 3rd street raising. By fifth street, one person made quad 9s, one made a wheel straight flush (nut low and good for high) and the third person kid you not made a Royal Straight Flush. Nah.... the site couldn't possibly be rigged.

An earlier reviewer had mentioned lack of getting good cards but ah that is rather unusual. The other day while playing OMAHA, I had pocket QQ four hands in a row. Many a time, one will get KK or AA three hands in a row - as for it paying off that's another matter as often the worse starters win at this site.
It seems that some people have picked up on this such that no one folds as they are anticipating their RiverStar miracle.

It also seems that there seems to be a huge influx of newbie rich players that have money to burn and view this site as a glorified slot machine. They call everything down no matter what. I was playing a penny table and this one guy sat down with $100,000. No not a typo! You will actually see this type of call anything down behavior at the higher limits as well.

The site used to be known for it's tough players whom one really could learn stuff from but a good percentage of them have left the site - there are a few of them left but they are basically an endangered species.

So needless to say, either you get called down by someone who has one out and hits or no one bets, which is kind of funny given that PS is trying to set up action but has ended up killing it.

I agree with the guys who did the betting experiment - that idea had entered my mind as well - glad to see that someone did indeed try it.

All in all, either stick to penny tables or the play money tables --- actually due to the Slot Machine mentality not much difference in play.

Hotel Review for Hollywood Casino: Great stay! (5 stars)

Me and my husband love the hollywood casino! the rooms are super clean, nicely decorated, and workers are friendly. they have a super nice indoor pool. We have been to tunica about 4 times and everytime we decided to stay here. The food is good even in the little cafe where we ate breakfast. Sure we drove and visited the other hotels but we always stay at hollywood. The outlet mall is really nice also especially if you have younger kids because they have a carters, osh kosh and childrens place outlet all right in a row! plus gap and old navy-my favorites. We ate at the sams town buffet and it was okay, but for 17 dollars a person including drink-- was not that great! We always seem to win pretty good at hollywood too--the casino is well spaced out with a good variety of games. I highly reccomend it!

Hotel Review for Beau Rivage: (2 stars)

Checked in at 6pm and went to my room. My room had not been cleaned. I got a weak apology and 30 minutes later another room. The food in the buffet was not appetizing at all. For the prices thay charge to stay at this hotel I expected much better.
