Review for PokerStars: pokerstars is really fixed

pokerstar staff that wrote the letter is a joke. just watch all the tournaments and later you can call out what cards will come out when players go all in before the flop. everytime you make a deposit you can make some money but there is always a limit until that time comes when you loss all the money. after i experience many of this pattern there is no way you can make money in pokerstar. they should be sued and they know their time will come. if you never played at pokerstars don't start and if you are a regular player you already know whats going on at this site. stay away from this place!!

Hotel Review for New York New York Hotel and Casino: review (4 stars)

Stayed at this hotel with my family last month. Deliberated whether to stay on or off strip but glad that we did in the end. This is a busy but fun hotel with easy access from free parking lot to reception. Can not comment on the casino as we don't indulge Rooms ok,requested non smoking but nil available, we accepted smoking as there was a view of the strip, it wasn't too bad and as we couldn't be bothered to change we stayed there. Beds very comfortable and spa toiletries good enough to eat. American restaurant very good and open 24 hours. The Italian restaurant I wouldn't especially recommend as poor service seen. Good if busy location, easy for monorail use. Ate at Harley Davidson restaurant on the strip, can recommend.

Review for PokerStars: Poker Stars Fixed?

I play lots of poker online and casino's. I dont know what algorithems PS uses but its definately not random, with constant high hand games. I know people say that its because a lot of hands get played - but beware. Yesterday in a tournament in the space of 7 hands, I had pocket J's twice (and lost twice on the river), pocket Q's and won. I went out 2 hands later against pocket AA twice in a row - (me AQ suited), followed by(AK suited). This is a regular occurance. Now statistically this might happen per 1 tournament but not every 10 hands or so! Probability pocket pair (any 5.9%) Pocket AA 0.45%, pocket pair twice in a row 0.00002% or 1 every 50,000 hands. Its about time someone investigated. High turnover of players = more profit for poker stars - especially in light of recent high court rulings!

Hotel Review for Grand Casino: It's a Joke (3 stars)

The waitresses are total white trash....As you can see from the review below mine...The casino security is in your face....The dealers barely know how to run the games...(even worse, after the storm) They act like you should be priveledged to be in this hellhole. It's terrible.

Review for PokerStars: Think outside the box-PS can be sued for fraud

PS is a company out of Canada by way of Costa Rico. Congress is opposed to online poker. PS pays for hundreds of people to sponsor it. Ps employs software and hardware that has never been made public. All I am saying is that PS needs to be the subject of a small scale, pre-legislation, class-action. Jurisdiction will be an issue, but I think that PS will not divulge its software in discovery, frcing a speedy recovery. Anyone out there who feels cheated should contact a lawyer. PS needs to be sued for refusing to obey current US legistaltion by running and maintaining a fraudulent program.

Hotel Review for Horseshoe Casino & Hotel: Excellent (5 stars)

Hotel rooms were outstanding. Personnel in Casino were good with one person outstanding, unfortunately I didn't get her name. She was a dealer on 3 card poker, has 12 years experience and was outstanding (I wish I had her name so I could compliment her directly). We visited most of the casinos in Tunica and this was the very best.

Review for PokerStars: no way

online poker is not rigged u donks. the "faucet" theory is just something called variance, its part of the game. AA loses 15% of the time. and like stated above, pokerstars will give you any hand histories you want. go ahead and prove it. also, take some time to learn some fundamental concepts about poker like your M, the importance of position, bubble play, etc. once i did, the bad beats started slowing down. hope to see you assholes at my table very soon

Review for PokerStars: read this

After being fed up with a run of bad luck, a pokerstars player sent an email complaining about online poker being rigged. He was sent a personal reply explaining logical reasons why online poker is not rigged.

I have taken the liberty of reviewing your previous correspondence with our staff, so I understand that we have already discussed this matter on numerous occasions. Normally we would just close your emails on this subject without reply, but I would like to try and explain something to you. I hope you will therefore read the following and understand why it is impossible for us to run a rigged site.

All the commonly held ‘rigged’ theories are certainly possible, and make for a very interesting and advanced conspiracy theory, but they all suffer from the same problem - a fundamental logical flaw. This is because, unlike all other conspiracies, the evidence needed to prove them is freely available - let me explain:

The value of you proving this conspiracy theory is huge. There was one instance, in the early days of online poker, where the top site at the time had a shuffle algorithm that was not random - It was cracked by Cigital, one of the companies we commissioned to review our RNG and procedures. The site fixed the problem, but they never truly recovered and are now not even one of the top 20 sites. Everyone who has followed in their footsteps learned a valuable lesson indeed.

If you proved the PokerStars shuffle was not random it would be worth at least tens of millions of pounds (the value that another site would likely pay to eliminate us as a competitor), and to us it is worth more since you would have the evidence to end the company and the careers of everyone working here.

All you would need is a sufficient sample of hands and you could easily statistically prove the shuffle was not random. Given the amount you play you almost certainly have a sufficient sample yourself. You can even use PokerStat or PokerTracker to do the analysis for you.

Now we do freely give out complete hand history records to any player who asks for them, so we are in effect willing to give out the information you need to prove these conspiracies and destroy this company. To put that in poker terms, if we are involved in a conspiracy, then we are making the biggest bluff you have ever seen, since we are gambling hundreds of millions on the fact you wouldn’t do anything with the histories we would happily give you. In fact we even programmed the PokerStars client to store your hands to your hard drive if you want, so there can be no possibility of us fixing the histories either.

If it is a bluff, then it can’t be a smart decision from any perspective can it?.

So I ask you this. We have some exceptional poker players in this company, but do you think we make this bluff every day, or are we holding the absolute nuts as we *know* you would only be able to prove the shuffle is fair?

What I have given above is also the most basic form of this argument. I haven’t even detailed the fact that my colleagues and I have access to all the hands ever played on the site and could obtain a huge sample of hands within minutes. We have the same potential payoff to proving a conspiracy as you do.

In summary, the conspiracy theories are believable because you want to believe that the bad beats you suffer have a reason behind them. It’s easier to accept that than the fact that in a random game anything can happen. It’s also much easier to accept than the reality that if you play perfect poker all your beats will, by definition, be bad beats - which is a sobering truth.

So - a final question - you are happy to make these accusations via email, but do you want your entire hand history collection to finally prove we are cheating you and make your millions?

Regards,

Philip A

Hotel Review for Claridge Casino Hotel: Now-days Claridge (4 stars)

While it is true that the "smaller is friendlier" is gone forever, swallowed up by big corporate business, I still like the great location, short distance to elevators and rooms, and the smiling staff. As part of the Harrahs empire, not much attention is being paid to the teenie-weenie "Claridge Tower." It's a shame, since it's such a beautiful, old-styled hotel. It was far worse last year when Bally's owned [and mis-managed] the property. Give the Claridge another chance, especially since your comp-card rates you at all four of Harrahs properties. There are even shuttle-buses to transport you from one to another. Of course you could stroll the world-famous boardwalk, something that no other "gaming" city has!!

Hotel Review for Sahara Hotel: Sahara OK by me! (5 stars)

I stayed at the Sahara from 4-9 March and after all the negative reviews I'd read, I was half expecting something resembling Legend of Hell House meets the Addams Family House but no, everything was very acceptable.

Check-in was handled efficiently after a short wait - a $10 'thank-you' to the nice receptionist meant I was offered a room with a view of the Strip in the Tangiers Tower - this also meant that the journey from reception to my room took less than 5 minutes by elevator (all 6 were operational).

The swimming pool/spa was well used but not too busy - open from 9 to 5 - plenty of sun loungers provided - and very clean rest rooms.
The other positives were:
Hardly any wait for the elevators
The A/C was quietly efficient
The room was a genuine non-smoking room - no evidence otherwise!
Room cleaned spotlessly every day by a hard-working friendly maid
Shower over the bath supplied instant hot water
All the staff I found very friendly - a special mention to the lady working in the Business Centre, who couldn't have been more helpful.
From the Casino to riding on the Monorail took under 5 minutes, unlike other Hotels on the Strip which take you on a scenic tour of their facilities!
Free entertainment - Broadband, a C&W band were playing when I stayed there - and very good they were too.

To summarise, the Sahara is 50+ years old but at least it has some character. It's also a lot quieter than the main Strip hotels, which means you can get on the slots and tables without any hassle, but it livened up considerably at NASCAR weekend. If you're on a budget, looking for a cheap place to stay which is clean, has a nice swimming pool, quiet with a more laid-back, relaxed atmosphere, you could do a lot worse than the Sahara.

Review for PokerStars: Sad

I got caught up in this whole poker stars crap and it almost cost me my sanity. I would play small cost games and win about $150 after depostiting 50. Then like said before the faucets turned off and I kept getting smoked holding a great hand. Before I knew it I would go all in against who I thought was a bad poker player and behold an unbelievable beat. Unfortunately I was sucked in and kept trying to make the money back that I had lost. Over and over again the same scenario bad beat after bad beat. What a set up! I'd have a pair of aces and the ass with a 8 2 would win with three of a kind 2's. No reason he should have ever played the stinkin hand in the first place. Anyhow I want my money back from Poker Stars. This is not a legit set up and as a first time online poker player I was sucked into their dirty little trap.

Hotel Review for Riviera Hotel and Casino: GREAT SLOTS; BAD ROOMS (4 stars)

I STAY AT THE RIVIERA OFTEN AND LOVE THIER $1 SLOTS; I EVEN WON $17,000 IN JULY OF 2006. IN SAYING THIS, THE LAST TIME I VISITED WAS IN APRIL AND THE ROOM THEY GAVE ME WAS AWFUL. ADDITIONALLY, I SAW THE BIGGEST ROACH CRAWLING ON THE WALL THAT I HAD EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE. THIS HAS DEFINITELY CHANGED MY PERCEPTION OF THIS HOTEL. I THOUGHT THAT PEOPLE WERE EXAGGERATING WHEN THEY CALLED IT A ROACH MOTEL/HOTEL, BUT NOW I MUST AGREE. MY ADVICE IS TO PLAY THE SLOTS BUT DO NOT STAY IN THE ROOMS. FINALLY, THE BUFFET IS AWESOME; BUT AFTER SEEING THAT GIGANTIC ROACH, I CANNOT EVEN EAT HERE AGAIN WHICH IS TOO BAD BECAUSE THE PRICES ARE VERY AFFORDABLE AND THE STAFF IS EXCELLENT.

Review for PokerStars: Pokerstars is not trustworthy

I have been playing online poker for about three years now and I grow more and more suspicious of pokerstars' credibility. I'm sure one day the truth will come out and I believe the truth will include fraudulent activity on Pokerstars' part. It is a business, they are trying to make the most money that they can. They do this at any means necessary. Rakes are purposely increased by allowing one person to hit a big hand, while another player hits an even bigger one (Flush losing to a boat, KK running into AA (happens way to often on cash tables)) I believe the cards are not dealt randomly. I believe there is some sort of pattern that is followed that is not random at all. Of course pokerstars will come up with an explaination for every question that is presented, but are they being truthful? I do not trust pokerstars, or any other online site for that matter. I do hope that one day we find out they have been cheating us, and they get what they deserve...
