Hotel Review for Gold Strike Casino: Mixed Emotions (3 stars)

To begin, we had reserved two queen beds in a non-smoking room. We were scheduled for a smoking room when we arrived. They did offer us a non-smoking room with twin beds at the same rate. The room was fine. The Atrium restaurant staff are slow-walking, rude, and have a devil-may-care attitude about customer complaints. My wife ordered a fish and chips dinner. The "all meals served with fresh warm bread" promise was completey broken. When I advised the waitress that the cook forgot my wife's hushpuppies, she replied, "Yeah, I know. I brought it out anyway. Do you want them?" She left and came back with four marble-sized "hushpupies" that were still cold and raw. It was obvious that they were prepared in such a way as to antagonize us. When I asked the manager to discount the meal since it was not totally edible, she said no. I asked, "So you are charging me for something I could not eat? Did you expect me to eat that?" She shook her head and said, "no, I don't even eat here." She gave me some suggestions on how to handle it "next time." I said that there would be no next time. She said okay and walked away. So much for customer satisfaction. We found the staff and accommodations at Hollywoods to be far more favorable.

Hotel Review for Rio Suite Hotel and Casino: Bad experience" (3 stars)

Recently we booked a room for 6 days (nov.) at the Rio,only to find out when we arrived
at 12:30am our first nite, our room was given up. So after being up since 5:am
the morning before and my wife hurting her knee in the airport, we were very
tired and were very disappointed that we had no place to sleep. They fianally
got us a room at another hotel. we had to find a way to get there.
we did get to bed by 3:am. the whole check in process was the worst we ever incounterd. The whole checkin staff were the worst we ever had.
No one was careing at all.We are a retired couple, now very tired.
This was just the beginning, we thought we were on lampoons vaction.

Hotel Review for Stardust Hotel and Casino: Good value for money (4 stars)

The Stardust is a nice hotel. Rooms and amenities are good and if you are on a budget, this is a great place to stay. The bar is pretty cosy, they have live shows most of the time. However, unfortunately, the Stardust is located a little too far to the North of the Strip and those Vegas miles are really pretty far. Secondly, it seems the hotel attracts senior visitors. While we were there, I have been trying very hard to discover people in the casino that were below 50. The value for money is good, but if you are interested in staying in a hotel that has it all (bars, restaurants, clubs, gambling, young crowd etc.) I would definitely suggest the New York, New York hotel as a better option because of the people and the location.
All in all, the Stardust is a good hotel to stay in, but there are better options. But then again, the Stardust is a landmark which you should have visited some time.

Hotel Review for Excalibur Hotel: Very happy at the Excalibur (4 stars)

Having dealt with Moira Funk in the past, there is no hotel, eating establishment, gas station, or any public venue that will make her happy. After spending a week in Vegas at the Excalibur, I rate the hotel and service a 9 out of 10. The Bridge Room at Atlantis might be better...

Hotel Review for Venetian Casino Resort: My Venetian Nightmare (2 stars)

The only place I experienced the "luxury" rating was in the price tag. I sincerely regret not having read some reviews before I went. I reserved a suite for one week but, wound up checking out early because of the dismal experience. Two weeks later, the Venetian still hadn't refunded my credit card. I had to call to request a refund at which point the accounts receivable person told me that "everything I have shows you were here" and basically called me a liar. Not until I faxed him a note on my law firm letterhead and a copy of the reciept I received at checkout did he refund me for the nights I was charged for after I'd checked out. On 3 of 4 nights, I had to call housekeeping to "ask" that my suite be cleaned after returning in the evening to find that it hadn't been. I ordered a cup of clam chowder from room service and paid $12 plus tip. The soup was fresh from the can and to add insult injury the waiter claimed not to have exact change and promised to return to the room with it but, never did. We're only talking a dollar here but, we'd already tipped the guy. The nerve!!! Every staff person I encountered with the exception of the front doormen could be rated on a scale of indifferent to downright rude. The desk person who checked us out seemed genuinely sympathetic and offered an apology and nothing more for our troubles. I would NEVER stay at the Venetian again. They couldn't pay me to! This place is truly awful. I've received better service and consideration at budget hotels. Save your money and your vacation and don't stay at the Venetian. The gondoliers are novel but, like everything else at the Venetian, they'll cost you. I'd advise you to stay elsewhere and visit the Grand Canal shops where you can watch the gondolas for free.

Review for Paradise Poker: PP has grown old

As many of the people here, I was on a tear at the beginning of my tenure at PP. Now, to give a fresh example, my a/2 diamonds flush from the flop was beat by a guy with a pair of pkt 4s. How you say? Flop was 568 diamonds. River was a 2 clubs. And, of course, the river was 7 diamonds. So, he caught 4 cards to the straight flush. Not the flush because I had those nuts.

Do I even need to write more? I've been on both sides of the BS hands. My A2 in the BB last night flops AAA, other guy has KK. He, of course, goes all in. Why in my 30 years of home/casino games have I NEVER seen crap like that on a consistent basis? Two weeks ago, my quad Jacks, from the flop, beat by, yes, another inside straight flush draw on the river.

And I haven't even mentioned the minor bad beats. The 90% hands beat by the 5% hand at the river. I'm just talking about the 1:32,500 hand beat by the 1:64,000 hand in a 5-player tournament.

Riddle me that riddle?

Hotel Review for Golden Nugget Hotel Casino: AGAIN AND AGAIN (5 stars)

Hi, first visit to LAS VEGAS was 1983 to one of your competitors, and the following year, it was recommended we go to the NUGGET, well since then and again on the 10th of PRIL, again we will be staying at your hotel. Simply it has been reliable, no surprises, and qwhen your 65, you want service, value, quality, friendly and motivated staff, and a secure feeling that you are in the right place for the vacation. The golden nugget has supplied this to me and my wife, and this must be our 10th visit. We have always recommended it to our friends also. See you on the 10th of APRIL

Hotel Review for Treasure Island Hotel and Casino: Great weekend (5 stars)

I was reluctant to stay at TI because of all the negative reviews I had read before going. Not sure why so many people criticize this hotel/casino.

My stay was fantastic. Check-in took less than 10min. The staff was great, the food good. Comps were good. The casino was fast paced and well staffed. My room was clean and the view of the strip was awesome.

Trust me, ignore the negative stuff. Some people will complain about anything. TI is a good value and you are hard pressed to fine a better strip location.

Hotel Review for Sands Casino Hotel: 25 years visiting the sands (4 stars)

my wife and i have been going to the sands since opening day 9/13/80 and
always returned. returng to play on 3/17/2006. we were friends of the doormen
up to the top executives and this was because we were NICE.

it pays to be NICE and you get a litlle more if you are. we have enjoyed
our time spent in the sands and believe anyone visiting there will enjoy
if you give it a chance and not demand things. this will bring things faster.

the employees are just like you and wish to be treated with respect--that is
sometimes hard but try to give them respect.

we have stayed at other casinos through former sands hosts but we never
enjoyed ourselves like we did at the sands. find a casino and stick with it
and you will get comps as lonmg as you play and are loyal.

Hotel Review for Mandalay Bay: Comments on Mandaly Bay (3 stars)

The hotel was absolutely beautiful. However the staff were not so beautiful. We arrived at the hotel about 12:00 am and we were all excited about our room and how nice it was, we quickly changed and went downstairs to the casino which I told my husband we get drinks when were gambling, we were playing the $1.00 slots, well we played for at least 1/2 hour and no drinks so I saw a waitress and she said you have to find your waitress, this kind of blew me away. So we went to one of the bars and stood there for quite along time and I finally asked the waitress if we could get a drink , she said you have to go over there , so we did and you know we never did get a drink.Being my husbands first time in vegas he was not impressed. We finally bought a soda in the store and went to bed. The next morning we went down for breakfast and when I asked an employee which way to the restaurants he did,nt even acknowledge me let alone answer me and I asked twice. We found our way and had a wonderful breakfast but when we wanted to play in a casino we went elsewhere where you could get a drink when you were gambling and the employees were friendly. So NO I would never stay at Mandalay Bay again and would certainly would not recommend this hotel to my friends.
I have been to Las Vegas 14 times and have never been treated so poorly.

Thanks for listening !!!

Hotel Review for Boardwalk Hotel and Casino: Sad to see it go. (4 stars)

We stayed in one of their tower rooms. It was a large room and we had a pretty good view of the Strip. Very satisfied with the room and it was also quite clean. We at the Surf Buffet one night as we got it late, and heard so much about how bad it was, that it actually surprised us on how good it was. I've eaten better, but I've also eaten worse. I absolutely loved its location and I liked the fact that I could get around this hotel very easily. So many of them are so big that it's easy to get turned around in them and sometimes you feel like you need a tram just to get to your room. I am probably in the minority, but I don't like staying in those oversized amusement part type hotels. I feel like I'm in an anthill so to speak. I only stayed the one time at the Boardwalk and would very easily have stayed there again if I could get one of the Tower Rooms. I absolutely do not like the MGM Grand Hotel's ridiculous size. I will really miss the small outdated Boardwalk Hotel and am sorry to see the large "resort monster" the Project CityCenter be built in her place.

Hotel Review for Boomtown: Great Last-Chance Stop (3 stars)

Whenever I drive home to California from Reno, I always have enjoyed stopping at Boomtown on my way out. It's a simple, decent sized casino that is fun and easy going and gives me a chance to try to win back some of my losses from the previous couple of days in Reno. Food prices are great too so it makes for a good stop for dinner before driving home.
