Hotel Review for Flamingo Las Vegas: Not bad (4 stars)

Recently spent four nights here with my wife. Despite many visits to Vegas, had never stayed here, but we did this rather last minute, largely because we got the room for only $60 a night. So, really, at that price, how can you complain? Here's how...lol.... seriously, this is a nice property in a great location. The room was a typical hotel room, with a large wet area on the carpet near the window. Why was it wet? Beats me. We decided that it didn't matter, though neither of us noticed it getting much dryer during the five days. Ate at three of the restaurants and all had solid food. The buffet setting is rather nice, overlooking the animal sanctuary and a waterfall. The pool area is nice, though a bit crowded. There is a water slide, which I think makes this a kid-friendly hotel (I had to elbow more than a few out of the way to go down the slide, which we did quite a few times.) Complaints? Well, we booked "smoking king," were told we had a "smoking king" upon check in and then went to our room to find ourselves on a non-smoking floor. When my wife the smoker called to find out what the deal was, they got snippy with her. She was not happy, but we let it ride (and no, she didn't smoke in the room.) But overall, very nice. Also saw George Wallace, who was very good. In closing, a word to the wise. The nice people from Hilton will accost you near the elevators for their time share presentation. They will promise you the sun, the moon and the stars, and while they did deliver on all they said they would, they fell far short in one area: pressure. They made a big deal about how they didn't do a pressure filled sales pitch, etc., but when we decided not to buy, they got very snappy and crappy and handed us to an older gentleman, who was downright rude. They also spent three hours telling us how bad other time shares were. We ended up making a minor purchase at Westgate (with the Aladdin), largely because of the charming older gentleman who spent time with us. He was very classy and had nothing but nice things to say about other timeshares, including the Hilton, which he said fired him because he was too old. Go figure.
